Keep turmeric paste in your fridge first aid kit  - its food and medicine !!

Have you heard about this Ayurvedic golden paste that is an immune-boosting remedy that ancient cultures have used for years to not only benefit digestion and inflammation but it has incredible health benefits, powerful antioxidants and anti-cancer properties? By including black pepper and fats it helps your body absorb the nutrients from turmeric, here we turn the volume up by adding more spices and beautiful healing manuka honey :)

This Golden Milk Turmeric Paste is utterly delicious and a super easy way to get more of this superfood in your day-to-day lifestyle......Our favourite way to use this turmeric paste is to add it to a little warmed up nut milk or raw milk. Healing turmeric hot milk at night helps with sleep and benefits bone and joint health (if you have creaky or stiff joints you need to take at least 1 cup of Golden Milk every day for a month - see if you notice the difference).

Gorgeous golden soothing hot toddies are a must, especially if you are feeling like you are coming down with a cold or flu because of its-anti-bacterial qualities, which will help prevent infection - you can add as little or as much as you like :) Its wonderful for a sore mucus throat, simply take about ½ teaspoon of thick turmeric paste and form into a ball, pop it into the back of your throat and swallow with a glass of water. You can do this a few times a day or as often as every hour if desired. Be creative with how you want to use this paste - You could use it to flavour stir fries, curries, rice, yoghurt and salad dressings? or make amazing iced-milk drinks and healthy ice-cream...let your imagination run wild. Or simply just have a big spoonful straight from the fridge.   Anyway you want to enjoy this pottle of sunshine...its a fabulous addition to your fridge and natures true medicine. xox

  • 1/2 tsp cardamom

  • 1/4 tsp Himalayan pink salt

  • ½ cup turmeric powder

  • 1 and 1/2 cups filtered water, plus 1/2 cup more

  • ½  cup  extra virgin coconut oil or ghee

  • 1/4 cup raw manuka honey (optional)

Method

  1. Combine black pepper, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt in a small bowl.  Set aside.
  2. Combine turmeric and 1 and 1/2 cups of water in a small pot, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon.  Bring mixture to a very gentle simmer and add another 1/2 cup of water.  Continue to stir with wooden spoon.
  3. Add mixed spices and continue to cook and stir on low for 3 minutes, until you have a thick and smooth paste.
Turn off heat and add fat of choice.  Continue to stir until completely smooth.
  4. Add optional sweetener while mixture cools.
  5. Transfer to clean glass jar.  Mixture will thicken as it cools. Place lid on jar after mixture has completely cooled.  Give a little shake to prevent separation and store in fridge for 2-3 weeks. Enjoy this pottle of sunshine friends xox
