Century old cacao is a sacred plant that is natures true medicine and this is a medieval hot chocolate recipe that will trigger such JOY and HARMONY in your life with a splash of exotic orange blossom water - I mean could it get anymore spunk-tual than that? Try to use chocolate that is 70% or higher and fair trade (which means farmers get fair market value), organic will have even more benefits!! Thanks to our ancestors for handing down this century old recipe, enjoy in a sunny spot surrounded by loved ones, sip and savour the dark exotic liquid love potion OR you could chill and serve in glasses over ice for a decadent iced chocolate xox
Ingredients
- 1 can of organic coconut milk or almond milk
- 20g dark 70% or higher fair trade organic chocolate
- 3 Tbsp of organic cacao powder
- Organic coconut sugar, honey or pure maple syrup to taste (about 3 Tbsp)
- 1 tsp of cinnamon powder or cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp black peppercorns or pinch of cayenne
- 2 cloves
- 1 vanilla pod, scraped
- 1 star anise
- Splash of orange blossom water (to taste)
- Pinch of Himalayan pink salt (optional but delicious)
Method
- Whisk everything together and warm gently in a saucepan, leave to steep for 10 minutes
- Taste and adjust seasoning, sweetness etc
- Sieve to remove whole spices
- Pour into mugs or espresso cups OR
- Chill and serve in tall glasses over ice as an amazing Iced-Chocolate :)
